SCER and UNDP hold meeting over electoral cooperation
SANA'A, Sep. 08 (Saba)- Chairman of Supreme Commission of Elections
and Referendum SCER Khaled al-Sharif held a meeting on Monday with
resident representative of UNDP in Sana'a Pratibha Mehta over
current arrangements for 2009 parliamentary elections.They
discussed aspects of the mutual cooperation between Yemen and UNDP
in field of elections.
They agreed on starting the implementation ofthe electoral support program at €3.7
million in accordance with the
document signed between the UNDP, European Union planning ministry and the
commission.Al-Sharif said that the UNDP is key partner for
the human development and electoral support, highlighting the
current cooperation between Yemen and the UNDP.
He voiced readiness of the committee to work with the international experts
transparently to prepare for the coming elections.Al-Sharif also
welcomed international observation on the elections, recalling on
parties to take part in the field electoral committees in phase of
reviewing voters' registrations.
