Abhisit, Yingluck continue campaigning for votes

BANGKOK, June 1 (TNA) - Thai caretaker prime minister and Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva has continued campaigning for votes for his party in Bangkok; while his archrival from the Pheu Thai Party, Yingluck Shinawatra, toured the country’s northeast.

Abhisit took time, before his caretaker Cabinet's weekly meeting, to visit the Wongsakorn fresh market in the Sai Mai constituency.

Abhisit approached a retired red-shirt woman who raised a placard urging him to solve the problem of rising product prices. He explained his administration's performance so far and promised to immediately address the problem of rising costs of living if his party was re-elected in the July 3 general election.

Meanwhile, Yingluck, the youngest sister of exiled ex-Thai premier Thaksin Shinawatra, led her team to Nakhon Ratchasima, or “Korat”, to campaign for her Party in the northeastern province.

The 43-year-old business woman-turned politician then cooked a large pan of fried Korat noodles and handed them out to local people at the Suranaree Statue, before moving on to nearby areas for her campaign. (TNA)
