Melkert, Yawar discuss disputed areas in Nineveh
Mosul (NINA) - Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Iraq, Ad Melkert, discussed today with Secretary General of the Iraqi Justice and Reform Movement, Abdullah Hamidi Al Yawar, conditions of the disputed areas in Nineveh.
Yawar said to NINA that he “discussed with Melkert the situation in disputed areas,” in the presence of members of Nineveh provincial council, and representatives of the Shabak and Yezidi quota in the council, as well as notables Christians."
"We presented to the representative of the UN Secretary-General explanation for some of the violations in those areas and announced rejection of the stay of the Peshmirga forces in Nineveh, Kirkuk and parts of Salahuddine and Diyala, the fact that their presence is unconstitutional and illegal in those provinces," he added
He called on "the Iraqi army, in those areas to take its role in a neutral and professional way."
