Russian Special Representative for Afghanistan calls on the Minister of State
ISLAMABAD (PPI) - Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hina Rabbani Khar received the Special Representative of Russia for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, at the Foreign Office on Tuesday.
Minister of State Khar and Ambassador Kabulov reviewed bilateral relations and agreed that the recent visit of President Zardari to the Russian Federation had helped promote greater understanding and strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
They had in-depth exchange of views on the regional situation including Afghanistan. They underscored the importance both Pakistan and Russia attached to cooperating closely on issues of stability, peace and security in the common region.
Minister of State stressed that Pakistan was committed to a stable and peaceful Afghanistan and that it would continue to play its role to achieve this objective.
She also underscored Pakistan’s support for a reconciliation process that is owned and led by the Afghans themselves, and the importance of abiding by the principles of non-interference and non-intervention in Afghanistan.
Pakistan has a close relationship with Russia which in recent years has witnessed a notable intensification of high level contacts leading to substantive cooperation in the economic, political and defence fields.
