ASTANA (Itar-Tass) - Kazakhstan's delegation led by Foreign
Minister Erzhan Kazykhanov will take part in a meeting of the Foreign
Ministers Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization due in
Minsk on May 31, the Foreign Ministry's spokesman, Askar Abdrakhmanov,
told a news conference on Monday.
"The meeting's agenda includes the issues pertaining to pressing
problems and prospects for CSTO development," he said.
He noted that foreign ministers are expected to discuss cooperation of
the CSTO with other international and regional organizations as well as
operation of the CSTO coordinating mechanisms.
Moreover, according to Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry, delegates will
hear a report on the implementation of decisions adopted by the heads of
CSTO member-states at the session last December.
"Participants in the meeting will discuss aspects of development of
the situations in some regions, including the Middle East, North Africa
and Afghanistan as well as possible steps to be taken by CSTO
member-states to prevent threats emanating from them," Abdrakhmanov said.
