Qatar and Egypt Agree on New Projects and Investments
Cairo , May 29 (QNA) - Minister of State for International Cooperation Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah left Cairo on Sunday afternoon after a three-day visit where he led Qatar's delegation to the Egyptian-Qatari ministerial committee.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) correspondent, the Minister of State expressed his satisfaction at the results achieved by the committee, pointing out that Qatar pays special attention to Egypt particularly after the January 25 revolution. He added that agreements have been concluded on establishing a number of grand projects in Egypt and Qatar. There will also be bilateral cooperation in establishing an investment companies in Africa and another in Sudan. He said that there was an agreement to establish two new ports in Port Said, which will cost LE 9 billion and create a million job opportunities, and a port in Alexandria which will create 200,000 job opportunities.
The Minister stressed that the two sides must draw up a plan to carry out their agreements and set a time frame for the establishments of these projects. He said that Qatari companies in Egypt will be in better shape, particularly after overcoming the obstacles that faced Qatari investments in the past period.
The Minister revealed that there will be a delegation of Qatari businessmen that will visit Egypt next month for viewing the investment opportunities available in the country. They will also work on increasing Qatari investments in Egypt.
