Nissan to suspend plant in St Petersburg until June 3
ST. PETERSBURG, May 30 (Itar-Tass) -- A Nissan car assembly plant in
St. Petersburg will suspend its operation for five workdays until June 3
inclusively. The plant will resume its regular operation on Monday, June
6. This measure will synchronize the production with the schedule of car
part supplies from Japan.
The decision to change the work schedule of the Nissan car assembly
plant was made over the car production suspended in Japan in late March
and early April this year. The company noted that the Japanese car
production is getting back on a regular track rapidly.
The Nissan car assembly plants are resuming their operation, director
for public relations of the Nissan Motor Rus Company Tatiana Natarova
said. "We hope that the production will resume fully not later than in
October 2011, when we reach the output level that the Nissan Company had
before the tragic events last March," she pointed out.
The Nissan car assembly plant, which was launched in the Kamenka
industrial zone in June 2009, became the third car assembly plant in St.
Petersburg. The investments in the project totaled 200 million dollars.
In 2010 the plant turned out 24,500 cars. St. Petersburg produces
three Nissan models, namely Nissan Teana, Nissan X-Trail and Nissan
Murano. The Nissan car assembly plant operates in three work shifts.
