Kamchatka launches investigation into blast case at oil bulk plant

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, May 30 (Itar-Tass) -- The Kamchatka
territorial investigation department launched an investigation into the
blast of an empty oil tank that caused the death of three people at an oil
bulk plant here on Monday, spokeswoman for the Kamchatka territorial
department of the Russian Investigation Committee Yelena Matafonova told
reporters on Monday.
The explosion went off at 9.42 a.m. local time (1.42 a.m. Moscow time)
on Monday. According to preliminary reports, the vapor-gas mixture
exploded when the oil tank was being dismantled.
The detectives are working at the blast site.
No fires were reported at the oil bulk plant, the Kamchatka
territorial investigation department told Itar-Tass. No fuel leaked as a
result of the blast. No threat for people exists.
