Three died in blast at oil bulk plant in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky


PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, May 30 (Itar-Tass) -- Three people died in
the blast of an empty oil tank at an oil bulk plant here on Monday.
According to preliminary reports, all dead people are workers of the oil
bulk plant, the press service of the Kamchatka territorial emergencies
department reported on Monday.
The explosion went off at about 10 a.m. local time (01.00 Moscow time)
on Monday in the Seroglazka residential area. After an alarm fire call the
fire engines rushed to the blast site. No less than ten fire engines are
working at the blast site. However, no fires were reported at the oil bulk
plant.
The exploded oil tank was about to be dismantled and was empty, when
"the vapor-water mixture exploded," the press service said. No oil
products leaked. No threat for people exists. The investigation into the
incident is underway.
