Gunman destroyed in downtown Nalchik
NALCHIK, May 30 (Itar-Tass) -- A gunman, who put up armed resistance
in a detention operation, was destroyed in downtown Nalchik, a source in
Kabardino-Balkaria's branch of the Russian Investigation Committee told
Itar-Tass on Monday.
"A 28-year-old resident from the village Kremenchug-Konstantinovskoye
in the Baksan district of the republic put up armed resistance to the FSB
commandoes in a detention operation and was destroyed," the source said.
The detention operation was carried out at 9.20 p.m. Moscow time on Sunday
on the crossroads of Tolstoy and Ordzhonikidze Streets.
A criminal case was instituted for an attempt on the life of law
enforcers and the illegal circulation of weapons.
