Barzani, Major open British Consulate in Erbil

Baghdad (NINA) - Masoud Barzani, Kurdistan Region President, and former British Prime Minister, John Major, opened the British Consulate in Erbil.


Barzani recited a speech during the opening ceremony in which he expressed happiness and welcomed this major step, stressing that the consulate will contribute greatly to consolidate and strengthen bilateral relations between the Kurdistan region and Britain.

He also appreciated the former British Premier’s role in supporting the people of Kurdistan and the adoption of the safe area of the Kurds during the migration, saying "the Kurdish people will never forget your stances, and the other states that have provided support and assistance during the hard days.


For his part, John Major expressed happiness for visiting Kurdistan and his participation in the opening of a British Consulate in Kurdistan.
