Thai political parties busy with their vigorous election campaigns over the weekend
BANGKOK, May 29 (TNA) - Several political parties are busy with their vigorous election campaigns over the weekend. The Democrat Party is visiting in northeastern provinces to hold the party’s election campaign while the Pheu Thai Party is campaigning in the capital.
Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva kicked off his vote campaigns in Yasothon province Saturday where he addressed a huge crowd of people. He stressed his party’s policies on income guarantee scheme for farmers, senior citizens’ allowances and free education program to woo supports from the local voters. He then travelled to Amnat Charoen and Ubon Ratchathani provinces for further campaigning.
Democrat deputy leader Apirak Kosayodhin campaigned for votes in Bangkok‘s Constituency 11. He launched six mobile election campaign teams, which would travel around the capital to meet with the white-collars workers and people in main commercial areas during their lunchtime.
Mr Apirak said the party was also using social media for election campaigning as there were around 9 million users of Facebook and Twitter. He said the party was gathering their opinions through social media to improve its solutions to people’s problems including economic, social and narcotics ones.
Tonight Mr Abhisit will speak to people through Livestream broadcasting on Abhisit Channel 10.
Meanwhile, Pheu Thai Party No 1 list candidate Yingluck Shinawatra and key figures launched a large campaign stage at the Lumpini public park in Bangkok Saturday evening. Pheu Thai leader Yongyuth Wichaidit urged voters to exercise their right and promised his party would solve poverty in Thailand.
Pheu Thai deputy leader Plodprasop Suraswadi said the election would certainly happen. He also called for all parties to respect its outcome. He said that if the party takes office, it will amend the constitution to make it a more democratic one. He added the party would also conduct a public hearing on the issue. (TNA)
