Thailand-Malaysia to jointly develop border schools

BANGKOK, May 28 (TNA) - Thailand and neighbouring Malaysia have agreed to join forces in developing schools at their shared border.
The agreement, in the form of a memorandum of understanding (MOU), was signed by Adul Promsaeng, Director of Thailand's Narathiwat Primary Education Services Area Office, Zone 2, and Hassan Ben Chek A Wang, a senior education official of Malaysia's Kelantan State in the Thai southernmost Narathiwat Province on Friday.
Under the deal, Baan Buketa School in Narathiwat and Kebangsa An Batu Melingtang School in Kelantan, located near the common border, will exchange outstanding points of each school for parallel development, as Buketa School is good in teaching handicraft skills, cooking, arts and cultural work; while the Malaysian school specialises in languages, sports and academics, particularly in general subjects and religion.
Fifteen other Thai schools in Narathiwat will later join the project and schools which are not located near the common border, but will be part of the Thai-Malaysian cooperation in the future. (TNA)
