TRAINING HELD FOR RURAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHERS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Mongolia-based English Language Fellow (ELF) Colin Large, three people visiting ELFs based in China, and one other American teaching professional offered workshops the week of May 23 to local English teachers on "Exercise Your English: Communicative Methods to Strengthen English Abilities."
Nearly 150 Mongolian English teachers have participated in the workshops in three cities--Ulaanbaatar, Darkhan and Erdenet. The project was implemented with the assistance of Colin's host institution- the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, with financial support from the U.S. Embassy in Mongolia and the Regional English Language Office (RELO) in Beijing, China. The facilitators offered workshop sessions focused on encouraging communication and student practice. Session topics included teaching pronunciation using computers, useful writing activities, improving reading comprehension, vocabulary learning strategies, and interactive speaking activities.
