Serbs protest Mladic arrest

BELGRADE, May 27 (Itar-Tass) -- Police detained 35 people who
protested late on Thursday in Belgrade against the arrest of Bosnian Serb
General Ratko Mladic, 69, who is likely to be extradited to the U.N.
tribunal in the Hague to face charges of genocide and war crimes during
the 1992-1995 Bosnian war.
Police said "several groups of 20-30 people tried to organize
unsanctioned meetings in downtown Belgrade, but timely police actions
prevented possible incidents."
In Novi Sad the number of protesters was close to 500 and they
attacked the local branch of the ruling party. Local television showed
protesters throwing stones and breaking glass in some windows of the
building.
Police dispersed the protesters and two of them remained lying on the
ground. They were taken away by an ambulance.
A hundred of protesters then gathered in the central square of the
city to chant support to Mladic.
