HELPLINE established at DNA lab in Islamabad
Ratodero, May 26, 2011 (PPI): To facilitate police in collection and transportation of samples, a HELPLINE (051-9267685) has been established at the DNA laboratory, National Forensic Science Agency (NFSA) in Islamabad which is now operational after completion of services and maintenance works.
The Police Surgeons of different public sector hospitals have been informed through a letter about this facility by the concerned authorities.
Furthermore general information regarding case submission form has also been issued by the concerned authorities.
Upon arrival at a crime scene, police has been advised to maintain control of the spot and prohibit the entry with tape with clear instructions on it - ‘Police line, do not cross’.
Special emphasis has been laid on the collection of ‘Biological Evidences’ for DNA tests such as blood, semen, saliva, urine, bones, nails, teeth and hair. Gathering of cigarette butts, pieces of torn clothes, rugs, car mats, etc. from the crime scene has also been stressed.
It has also been advised to collect all biological evidences in sterile tubes, bottles or papers and of making stains of all liquid samples on sterile blotting paper or gauze pad or stain card.
