Iraqi embassy in Germany receives 38 Iraqi antique pieces
Baghdad (NINA) – Iraqi embassy in Germany received 38 Iraqi antique pieces belonging to different historical periods, representing Sumerian, Babylonian and Assyrian civilizations.
The Foreign Ministry mentioned, in a statement today that "the embassy received the antiques from the organization of Doctors without Borders in Germany during a ceremony held for the occasion."
It added "these pieces were in possession of one of the German doctors who brought them from Iraq in the fifties of the last century and asked to hand them over to the Doctors without Borders after his death."
"The Iraqi ambassador, Hussein Mahmood Al Khatib, expressed Iraq’s appreciation of the gesture taken by the organization of returning the pieces to the original place, Iraq, especially since they are human and cultural legacy that require preserving them,” the statement went on saying.
