Malaysian company wins lawsuit filed in Iraq against Iraqi Ministry of Industry

Baghdad (NINA) - Malaysian company won a lawsuit filed in Federal Court of Cassation against the Iraqi Ministry of Industry and Minerals in Iraq, which refused to register the company as it believed that there is similarity between the company’s brand and a sign of other parties.
A statement by the Supreme Judicial Council today said "the Federal Court of Cassation / Civil Commission ratified the decision of the court specialized in commercial litigation to compel the Ministry of Industry and Minerals to register the trademark of the Malaysian company according to legal procedures."
The statement said "this approval came after a Malaysian company filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Industry and Minerals Ministry upon its refusal of registration of a company claiming the existence of similar marks which would cause confusion among the consumers."
