M.ENKHBOLD DELIVERS SPEECH AT ESCAP SESSION

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Representing landlocked developing countries, the Deputy Premier of Mongolia M.Enkhbold delivered a speech at an opening of the 67th Commission Session of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) kicked off May 19 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Deputy Premier has introduced to the gathered results of a policy meeting of Asia Pacific Landlocked Counties held last month in Ulaanbaatar city, underlining an importance of international collaboration and assistance of developmental partners for overcoming difficulties facing these countries.
M.Enkhbold has noted the Ulaanbaatar Declaration--the outcome of the policy meeting--has paid a special attention to the matters concerning the landlocked countries' penetrating into a market through sea ports, facilitating trade and transportation, reducing the expenses, and strengthening negotiations on transit transportation. He has urged the regional countries to join the international agreement on establishing the International Think-Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries in Ulaanbaatar in conjunction with signing the agreement.
M.Enkhbold has delivered a report on a socio-economic situation in Mongolia and the regional cooperation at a general debate themed “Social welfare and long-term developmental future in Asia-Pacific after the crisis”. He has spoken about establishment of the Human Development Fund with a purpose to reduce poverty by distributing benefits of the mining sector, which is increasingly developing at Mongolia's economics. He has emphasized an importance of making more investments to the social welfare sector and of correctly choosing a policy in order to ensure the Millennium Development Goals.
