Two new NSW Labor MPs sworn in

SYDNEY (AAP) - May 24 - Walt Secord, one-time chief-of-staff to the former premier Kristina Keneally, and barrister Adam Searle have been sworn in as new Labor MPs in the NSW upper house.
The two men fill vacancies in NSW Legislative Assembly, caused by the resignations of former attorney-general John Hatzistergos and Labor powerbroker Eddie Obeid.
The pair were sworn in during a brief a joint sitting of the NSW parliament on Tuesday night.
Mr Secord has a long history with NSW Labor, having worked closely with former premier Bob Carr and more recently acting as chief-of-staff to Ms Keneally.
Adam Searle is a barrister whose area of expertise is in employment and industrial law, and a former mayor of the Blue Mountains.
Both were elected unopposed to fill the vacancies at a meeting of the ALP's administrative committee on Friday.
