ASTANA, May 24 (Itar-Tass) - Two people have been killed in a car
explosion near the temporary detention facility building of the National
Security Committee (NSC) of Kazakhstan in Astana, the press service of the
Kazakh Interior Ministry said on Tuesday, noting that the report about the
incident came at 01:37 MSK.
The investigative team found at the incident scene an Audi-100 car and
"bodies of two unidentified men of European appearance." The police also
found a "driver's license and a hunting license in the name of Kelpler
Dmitry Yuryevich, born in 1962 in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, residing in
Ekibastuz in the Pavlodar region, and a passport of a citizen of
Kazakhstan in the name of Cheremukhin Ivan Alexandrovich, born 1985,
convicted for theft, twice for fraud, as well as for the purchase and sale
of property knowingly obtained through crime, also residing in Ekibastuz,"
the press service noted.
According to a preliminary version, the cause of the death of the
persons in the car "was a spontaneous explosion of a shell-less explosive
device without strike elements."
As a result of the incident scene inspection police found out that the
explosion occurred in a car parked in a vacant lot, at a distance from
houses and production facilities. The blast wave partially shattered some
windows in nearby buildings.
"These facts suggest that there are no signs of a terrorist act. The
necessary investigative actions are conducted over the explosion, and a
bomb technical expertise has been appointed," according to the press
service.
