Honouring Ceremony Marking 9th World Conference of Sports & Environment Tuesday
Doha, May 23 (QNA) - Qatar National Olympic Committee (QNOC) is to hold an honouring ceremony at the Doha Sheraton Hotel here tomorrow, Tuesday evening marking the 9th World Conference on Sport and Environment .
The ceremony will be attended by QOC Secretary General Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani who is also the chairman of said conference's supreme organising committee , the committee members and other volunteers.
During the ceremony the media institutions and employees of the several subcommittees which contributed to ensure the success of the conference held on April 30 until May 2 under the auspices of HH Heir Apparent and head of the QNOC Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani who is also member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and in cooperation with the International Olympic Committee represented in the sports and environment committee chaired by Hungary's president P?l Schmitt .
The 9th World Conference on Sport and the Environment opened in Doha, on April 30 with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) presenting six organisations with the IOC Sport and Environment Award for their outstanding contributions in the field of sustainable sport and the environment.
The Conference, held under the motto "Playing for a Greener Future," is jointly organised by the IOC and the Qatar National Olympic Committee (QNOC) , in close partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Representatives from the world of sport, industry, sponsors, the United Nations and NGOs addressed the conference on issues related to environmental responsibility and sport in plenary and breakout sessions.(QNA)
Sheikh saud was one of the speakers at the 9th World Conference on Sport and Environment in Doha which opened here earlier Saturday, April 30. "Qatar is vigorously pursuing a policy of sustainable development at all levels. This conference reaffirms the country s commitment to his goal which is enshrined in Qatar National Vision 2030," Sheikh Saud told the Qatar News Agency
