Federal hospitals to remain with Center: Riaz Pirzada

Karachi, May 23, 2011 (PPI): Federal Health Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada Monday said the federal government run hospital would not be handed over to the province, but the issue would be solved to run these hospitals to the Cabinet.

Talking to media after his visit to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) Karachi he said it would take two years to implement the 18 Constitutional Amendment. He said all the healthcare institutes being run with the assistance of international donors would also remain with the federal government.

He said the hospitals like the JPMC have their own status and providing quality healthcare facilities to the people and they would not be handed over to the provinces. He said the health budget would further be increased to facilitate poor patients.

Earlier, the delegates of Joint Action Committee, Young Nurses Association, Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association and contract employees called on the federal minister and apprised him about their issues. The minister assured them that there all genuine problems would solved on priority.
