Socceroos to name overseas stars in squad

SYDNEY (AAP) - May 23 - There'll be no Tim Cahill but otherwise the Socceroos are expected to name close to a full-strength squad on Tuesday for their two June internationals in Australia.
Everton star Cahill will skip the matches against New Zealand in Adelaide on June 5 and Serbia in Melbourne on June 7 for much-needed rest for his injured foot.
Cahill has defied medical advice to play in recent weeks for his Premier League club with the injury - a torn foot muscle.
First-choice left-back David Carney will also be missing as he recovers from shoulder surgery.
But goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has put his hand up to play, while Harry Kewell is also expected to be named in coach Holger Osieck's squad.
Skipper Lucas Neill has missed the latter part of the season with his Turkish club Galatasaray with a groin problem.
He wants to play in the friendlies, but his status for the matches remains unclear.
In-form Blackburn midfielder Brett Emerton is a certain inclusion after helping his English side avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Middlesbrough utility Rhys Williams is a chance to be called up for the first time since being ruled out of the World Cup squad last year with injury.
He has made a late season comeback with English second-tier side Boro following a pelvic problem which sidelined him for several months.
The West Australian's versatility in being able to play fullback and midfield - especially with Carney missing - might mean Osieck wants a closer look at a player highly rated by his predecessor Pim Verbeek.
With two matches in close succession, the Socceroos may also give some Olyroos players game time ahead of their 2012 Olympic qualifiers later in the month.
German Osieck has seven wins, three draws and two losses from his 12 matches in charge of the Socceroos.
