Zebari, Melkert discuss Iraq-UN relations

Baghdad (NINA) – Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari discussed on Sunday, May 22, with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq, Ad Melkert, and UNAMI's experts Iraq's relations with the United Nations.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that in the meeting, Iraq's relations with the UN and Iraq-Kuwait relations are discussed, as well as the progress realized in the Kuwaiti humanitarian issue and the government's measures in searching for the missing Kuwaitis and Kuwaiti properties.

It added that they also discussed the issue of Mobarak Port in Bobyan Island and the government measures in dealing with the issue away from tension in the service of both countries interests.

The statement pointed out that both sides discussed measures and technical facilities provided to the UN mission (UNAMI) in Iraq.

Kuwait's Ambassador to Iraq, Ali al-Moumin, attended the meeting asserting the importance of treating bilateral issues within the frames of the ministerial Iraqi-Kuwaiti Committee and the necessity that bilateral issues be discussed within the Mubarak Port's issue.
