Yingluck’s field campaigns for votes in Thai North

BANGKOK, May 22 (TNA) - Yingluck Shinawatra, the number one party list candidate of the Pheu Thai Party, led Pheu Thai candidates in their vote campaign trip in Phayao province which is one of the party’s political strongholds.
Miss Yingluck, the youngest sister of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and potentially the first female prime minister candidate of Thailand, visited local markets in Muang Phayao district to introduce herself and Pheu Thai candidates. Her delegation drew attention from buyers.
Miss Yingluck said she received warm welcomes from local people during the past two days of her field campaigns and opinion surveys revealed that the popularity of the Pheu Thai Party was growing. She attributed the rising popularity to her visits to many constituencies where she had chances to present policies. She is confident that her party would become more popular and should win all three House seats in Phayao province.
In response to a new vote campaign tactic of the Democrat Party, Miss Yingluck said the final decision depended on eligible voters and that the policies of her Pheu Thai Party met people’s needs.
Asked for a comment on the report that Gen Chavalit Yongchaiyudh will be an adviser to the New Aspiration Party that he had founded, Miss Yingluck said she had not learned about the development but Gen Chaovalit had given his moral support and promised to help the Pheu Thai Party.
Election commissioner Prapun Naigowit visited the 34th and the 35th poll units in the heart of Samut Prakan province and commented that the election of the president of the Samut Prakan provincial administrative organization happened smoothly in general and the election law was not violated there. Most complaints were about vote-buying, allegations on competitors and the destruction of campaign posters and were filed in Muang district. Provincial election authorities will investigate the complaints and report findings to the Election Commission in Bangkok. (TNA)
