Son of a former Thai police chief dies

BANGKOK, May 22 (TNA) - A son of a former Thai national police chief Pracha Promnok reportedly drowned in a swimming pool in his residence in Laksi district, Bangkok.

Pol Col Chattham Promnok, the budgetary and financial chief of the Royal Thai Police Narcotic Suppression Bureau, was rushed to Vibhavadi Hospital, after a house keeper found him lying unconscious beside the swimming pool Sunday morning.

Doctors failed to save his life after spending hours doing CPR on him. They later announced that Pol Col Chattham died of suffocation caused by drowning. His body will undergo an autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Medicine.

It was reported that Police General Pracha went to see the body of his son at the hospital but refused to mention the cause of his son death.

Pol Col Chattham was 45 years old. He was of Class 43 at the Royal Police Cadet Academy. He was the eldest son of Pol Gen Pracha and Khunying Warunee and had three siblings.

Police General Pracha has defected from Puea Pandin Party to the Pheu Thai Party for the July 3 election. (TNA)
