Siege unit empty, Sydney police say
SYDNEY (AAP) - May 22 - Police have re-opened a southwestern Sydney street after what was believed to a siege situation.
Motorists and pedestrians were asked to avoid Cartwright Avenue and surrounding streets at Miller while a police operation is underway.
The Seven Network had reported that man with a shotgun is holding five people hostage inside a unit.
"About 7.10pm, police entered the unit following information that the premises were empty," police said in a statement.
"Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the incident."
