AL-ANQARI HIGHLIGHTS ATTENTION GIVEN TO EDUCATION SECTOR

Makkah, Sept 7, SPA -- Minister of Higher Education Dr Khalid
al-Anqari has highlighted the great attention given by the Saudi
Leadership to the sector of education.

During his meeting here on Saturday evening with the director of
Ummal Qura University Dr Adnan Wazzan and members of the University's
academic staff, Dr al-Anqari said the allocations of the universities
were doubled in the last five years.
He noted that a plan for the promotion of the university education
was set in 1419, and accordingly a committee comprising
representatives of a number of ministries was formed under the
chairmanship of Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy
Premier, Defense and Aviation Minister and Inspector General.
He noted that the Kingdom's wise policy in this respect led to the
establishment of a number of new universities and colleges as well as
the development of the existing universities and colleges.
