D.DEMBEREL RECEIVES ROMANIAN DELEGATION
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A delegation headed by a member of Romanian parliament, head of the Romanian-Mongolian inter-parliamentary group and chairman of the Romanian Social Democratic Party (SDP) Mr. Viktor-Viorel Ponta is paying a visit to Mongolia at invitation of the Mongolia-Romanian inter-parliamentary group. On Thursday, the delegation was received by the Parliament Speaker of Mongolia D.Demberel.
The Speaker has emphasized the traditional and friendly relations between the two countries have been developing for many years now, and that the countries marked last year the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations establishment. “It is good for us that Romania is in the European Union and Euro parliament, for Mongolia wants to boost a close cooperation with the European Union and the Euro parliament,” the Speaker has noted expressing a satisfaction with good results in the matter.
He has underlined an importance of the inter-parliamentary ties and the collaboration between friendship groups and MPs for making the relations closer, hoping this visit would contribute to activating the bilateral traditional relations.
In response, Mr. Ponta thanked the Speaker for the warm audience. He has mentioned about a stagnation in the bilateral relations for 20 years, and said he initiated a setting up the Romania-Mongolian inter-parliamentary group after the 2008 parliamentary election. “Our countries do not have the embassies, even consulates, so I have an aspiration to develop the cooperation in all spheres changing the inter-citizen ties and the cultural exchanges,” Mr. Ponta has stressed. He has expressed a willingness to support Mongolia in all sectors as for a member of the EU, and said it is possible to develop cooperation with Mongolia in the energy sector based on coal. “It is the first step to widen the relations. I hope a parliamentary delegation of Romania will visit Mongolia soon,” he has added.
The Speaker has underlined an importance of active cooperation of parliaments in resuming the traditional relations and friendship, adding it is important to open the Romanian embassy in Mongolia.
Present at the meeting were N.Ganbyamba, a head of the Mongolia-Romanian inter-parliamentary group; S.Banzragch, an advisor to the Speaker; and others.
