Indian-origin artiste carves Diana's face in melon
London, Sep 6 (PTI) In a unique tribute, an Indian-origin
artist marked Princes Diana’s death anniversary by carving her
face in a melon.
Leicester-based Amrat Parmar, 68, hit upon the idea of
carving melons after he complained about wood being too tough
to work with.
Parmar hit the headlines in local and international media
in 2006 when he carved the faces of England's 2006 World Cup
squad into some melons. Since then, he has dabbled in
religious carvings.
His latest creation, princess Diana’s face, is being
put up on display at the Shree Sanatan Mandir in Leicester.
Parmar, who learned wood carving in evening classes,
told the local media "I decided to do a carving of Diana
because it was the anniversary of her death."
