Signing a contract with Korean STX Company to supply 25 power stations


Baghdad (NINA) - Iraq signed on Wednesday a contract with the South Korean company STX to provide 25 power stations with a total capacity of 2500 MW, in the presence of Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki.

According to a statement from Maliki's office, the Premier thanked the Korean delegation on the quick response and coming to Baghdad to sign these contracts, which were agreed upon during his recent visit to South Korea, reiterating confidence in the performance of the Korean companies and their commitment to specified period of execution.

Maliki expressed happiness for the participation of the Korean companies in the construction process taking place in Iraq, calling for the start of work and speed up its implementation as soon as possible to provide electric power to the Iraqi people.

The contract was signed by the Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Raad Shalal, while, Lee Jean Wu, representative of the Korean company STX signed for their part.

Present at the signing ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister for Energy, Hussein Al Shahristani, Minister of Industry and Minerals Ahmed Nasser Al Karbouli. /End/
