30 forest fires raging in Siberia on an area of 825 hectares

KRASNOYARSK (Itar-Tass) - Efforts are being made in Siberia to
put out 30 forest fires enveloping an aggregate area of 825.1 hectares.
Over the past 24 hours, nine fires on an area of 243.4 hectares have been
eliminated and another eleven foci of fire on 619 hectares have been
localized, an official at the regional center of the Russian Ministry for
Emergencies told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
According to the Aviaforestprotection service, the planes and
helicopters of which made 15 air patrolling flights, there are no
large-scale forest fires now.
In all, over the past 24 hours, forest fire-fighting efforts involved
almost 1,000 people and more than 200 units of machinery.
According to information from the Department for hydrometeorology and
environmental monitoring, foci of fire of the top fifth category of danger
may break out within the next 24 hours in the forests of 14 districts of
Zabaikalye (trans-Baikal) and Altai Terirtories, Novosibirsk Region, and
Tuva Republic. Fires of the fourth class of danger are not ruled out in
another ten regions of Siberia.
