Nawaz Sharif says PML-N requisition National Assembly session to press government implement joint session of parliament resolution
Hyderabad, May 17, 2011 (PPI): PML-N Chief and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif says his party members will soon requisition National Assembly session in order to press the government for implementing resolution of joint session of parliament by constituting an independent commission to probe May 2, 2011 operation in Abbottabad and punish those responsible across the board.
"We welcome the resolution adopted in the joint session of parliament and call for its early implementation by constituting members of high stature in the independent commission as well as its modalities by Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani in consultation with Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Ch. Nisar Ali Khan.
"We would never compromise on national sovereignty nor allow anyone to play with the destiny of Pakistan," Nawaz Sharif told newsmen on Tuesday after a meeting with Chairman, Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party STPP Dr Qadir Magsi shortly after arrival in Hyderabad from Karachi. PML-N leaders Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Syed Ghous Ali Shah, Mamnoon Hussain, Salim Zia were also present.
Answering a question, he said PML-N was not opposed to the creation of new provinces where needed and would welcome talks in this regard. The manifesto of PML-N stands for giving rights to the people across the country without any discrimination, he observed. He also stated that his party believes that languages of all the provinces should be promoted and popularized.
Nawaz Sharif thanked STPP Chief for inviting him to Sindh and asked Dr Magsi to visit Punjab where he would be welcomed with open arms. "The agenda of PML-N and STPP is similar. The reforms in the Constitution have been made with consensus by addressing all the issues," he noted.
To another question, former Prime Minister said those "branded as Qatil League by President Asif Ali Zardari and accused by Benazir Bhutto of conspiring to kill her were today in the PPP-led Federal government. PML-Q had also charged that PPP was responsible for the killing of Ch. Zahoor Elahi and its (PML-Q) leaders vowed they would elect General Pervez Musharraf in uniform as President of Pakistan ten times. PPP-led government has failed to arrest the killers of Benazir Bhutto."
He also said that President Asif Ali Zardari never implemented the promises he made with the PML-N. "We believe that politics should be based on principles, respecting the sanctity of the ballot box and supremacy of the Constitution. There is massive load shedding, growing unemployment, price hike and extreme poverty in the country," he added.
Nawaz Sharif in the past the Supreme Court judges gave "legitimacy to martial law imposed by General Pervez Musharraf in October 1999 and authorized him (Pervez Musharraf) to amend and distort the Constitution over the next three years. The judges of that apex court as well as the army generals are traitors and should be made accountable for their wrong doings."
