Azerbaijani Parliament sends protest letter to European Parliament

Azerbaijan, Baku, May 17 / Trend M. Aliyev /

The Azerbaijani Parliament sent a letter of protest to the European Parliament in connection with the resolution.

"We are well aware that democracy is not only of institutional nature, but must appear in consciousness," he said. "There are countries in the region with more human rights violations than that stressed in the resolution. There are countries where human rights are trampled. But Azerbaijan stands out among them in the resolution. We think that this is of biased nature."

The European Parliament adopted a critical resolution on the situation with human rights and democracy in Azerbaijan on May 12.

"Preventing the attempt of political groups, having no public support, to conduct illegal rallies, must not be assessed as a violation of human rights and democracy," the document said.
Everyone knows that European countries take measures to curb attempts to organize illegal rallies.
The appeal was prepared by a special commission of the Azerbaijani Parliament.
The commission is headed by MP Valeh Alasgarov. It consists of MPs Azay Guliyev, Ali Huseynli, Faraj Guliyev, Asim Mollazade, Ayten Mustafayeva and Samad Seyidov.
