Deputies Director of King Saud University commend Custodian of

Riyadh, September 06 , SPA -- Deputies Director of King Saud
University emphasized that the acceptance of the Custodian of the Two
Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of the honorary
doctorate awarded by the University Council shoulders a great
responsibility on the University to permanently remain in the lead
and to achieve the required global excellence.
In statements to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), The Deputy Director of
King Saud University, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Salem Al-Ruwais said that the
Kingdom witnessed the largest budget for education and technology in
addition to what it witnessed of the quantitative and qualitative
leap in its universities, noting that the number of universities
jumped from the 8 universities to 22 governmental universities
covering the entire regions of the Kingdom.
He said "For the qualitative improvement, the Custodian of the Two
Holy Mosques ordered to allocate large amounts of budget surplus for
higher education, technical education and public education and
another amount for the national researches in the areas of technology
for the prosperity of the Kingdom".
He added "To enable the Saudi youth to benefit from the opportunities
of higher education, he has launched the Custodian of the Two Holy
Mosques project of the scholarship then he crowned this qualitative
leap by laying the cornerstone and of King Abdullah University of
Science and Technology".

Dr. Al-Ruwais said that King Saud University, which has had like
other Saudi universities material and moral support, represented by
the university's board and its senior management, realized that the
honorary doctorate is the least can be awarded by King Saud
University to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in recognition of
his efforts, guidance and unlimited support .

The Deputy Director of King Saud University for Higher Studies and
Scientific Research Dr. Mansour bin Suleiman Al-Saeed said that the
university was honored by acceptance of the honorary doctorate by the
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

He reviewed the efforts of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques that
extended to include the Kingdom and the World, highlighting his good
and honorable stances on many issues.

On his part, Dr Ali bin Saeed Al-Ghamdi, the University's Deputy
Rector for exchange of knowledge and transfer of technology expressed
his thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for
accepting the degree of honorary doctorate awarded by the University.

He said that this certificate is the least that can be awarded by the
university to the leader of higher education and scientific research
in our country, adding that the evolutionary initiatives launched by
the University in its present stage have been due to moral and
material support provided by the Saudi leadership.
He noted that the development programmes including the
establishment of Agency for Exchange of Knowledge and Transfer of
Technology, programme of research chairs, nano-program and centers
of distinction are linked to the support provided by the Custodian of
the Two Holy Mosques.
For his part, Dr. Hatem bin Abdulrahman Abu Al-Samh, the
University's Deputy Rector for Development and Quality said the
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, his creative accomplishments at
Islamic, Arab and international levels make the King a unique
personality deserving the greatest appreciation and esteem, adding
that it is an honor for King Saud University that the King accepts
this appreciation in recognition of the progress of the march of
higher education, scientific research and technological development
in Saudi Arabia according to the King's directives and follow-up.

On the other hand, Dr. Mohammad bin Atiyyah Al-Harthi, Advisor and
General Supervisor of the Office of Rector of King Saud University
considered the King's acceptance of the honorary doctorate from the
university as a medal of honor and pride for the University that such
a distinguished personality in the world obtaining a degree issued by
King Saud University, noting that the King has paid great attention
to higher education.
On his part, Dr. Musaed Al-Misained, the General Supervisor of the
General Department of Works and Support Services said that the King
is a great man who believed in the necessity of science and its
importance in the progress, and who sincerely stood and generously
contributed to reviving the higher education and spreading it, adding
that during the King's era, great achievements have been accomplished
and enjoyed by the homeland and its people.
