PM Abhisit visits Thai North for electoral campaigns
Pitsanulok, May 17 (TNA) - Thai Caretaker Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva is leading a group of his Democrat Party's candidates to visit the country's northern areas on Tuesday (May 17) to meet local people for electoral campaigns, as Thailand's new general election has been set on July 3, 2011.
Abhisit and his team first visited voters in Pitsanulok Province’s Noen Maprang District Tuesday morning. They were welcome by more than 3,000 villagers. The Thai caretaker premier was set to then visit people in Nakhon Sawan Province's Ta Klee District Tuesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra said that he has instructed officials at the capital's all 50 district offices and those at the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's offices to strictly observe their neutral roles during the ongoing electoral campaigning period.
The Bangkok governor noted that he has also ordered the city's security officers to be fully prepared for supporting police forces to ensure laws and order on May 19--when political candidates from various parties will register to run for the forthcoming general election.(TNA)
