Economy, environment, Olympic Games to dominate Austria-Russia talks
VIENNA, May 17 (Itar-Tass) -- Economic and environmental issues,
cultural cooperation and the preparation of the Olympic Games in Sochi
will dominate the agenda of the talks during Austrian President Heinz
Fischer's visit to Russia on May 18-21.
"We will have to evaluate the development of bilateral cooperation and
map out plans for the future," Fischer said in an exclusive interview with
Itar-Tass and Russia 24 Channel.
"The agreements to be signed during the visit are very important for
the future of our relations. The main goal of the declaration of
partnership for modernisation is to ensure the use of modern, particularly
environmentally friendly, technologies that will help to solve problems
related to negative climate changes, unemployment and economic prosperity
of our peoples. Besides, we also intend to foster more intensive exchanges
of scientists, engineers and university teachers," the president said.
He stressed that Austria attaches great significance to the visit as
borne out by the composition of the delegation that will go to Moscow. It
will include members of the government, about 120 leading entrepreneurs,
the president of the Academy of Sciences, and Austrian army officers.
