Pakistan to participate in China Boxing Open

LAHORE, May 16, 2011 (PPI): Pakistan will take part in the 2ndChina Open Boxing Championship to be held in Guyang from May 29 to June 3. Pakistan has already won bronze medal in the inaugural Championship last year.

National team will comprise of Muhammad Waseem (52kg), Qadir Khan (56kg), Sardar Muhammad (60kg), Amir Khan (64kg) and Nisar Khan in 75kg weight categories. Former Asian champion Ali Bukhsh will be the coach of the team and Syed Ashraf Ali will accompany the team as referee judge.

Meanwhile, President Pakistan Boxing Federation Doda Khan Bhutto has hoped that national boxers will perform to their potential in the forthcoming Championship. He said it would be a welcome international exposure before the London Olympics qualifying.
