Gunmen kill Saudi Consulate official
Karachi, May 16, 2011 (PPI): An official of Saudi Arabia Consulate was killed by unknown armed men when they opened fire on him in the limits of Darkhshan Police Station, here on Monday, police said.
According to details, armed snipers riding a bike opened fire on Hassan-al-Kahtani, an official of the Saudi Consulate, who was driving a consulate car.
The attack came a few days after unidentified men threw two hand grenades at the Saudi consulate. The grenades exploded, but no one was hurt in that attack.
Zameer Hussain at police station said 9mm pistol was used in the attack.
Talking to newsmen DIGP South Iqbal Mehmood said the official was alone in the car and was heading towards consulate from his residence which is situated nearby.
He said the deceased received four bullets in chest while one in his head which proved fatal.
Initial reports suggest the deceased was a security official at the Saudi Consulate. Further investigation is under way, police added.
