Russian inspectors begin Open Skies Treaty flights over Poland

MOSCOW, May 16 (Itar-Tass) - A group of Russian inspectors on Monday
begins observation flights onboard an An-30B reconnaissance plane over
Poland within the framework of the Treaty on Open Skies, the Russian
Defence Ministry's press service told Itar-Tass.
"The flight that will end on May 20 will be carried out along the
earlier coordinated route. The flight distance will total 1,400
kilometres," the source said.
"Experts from Russia and Poland onboard the Russian plane will control
how provisions and agreements on the use of surveillance equipment are
complied with," the press service said.
This will be the ninth observation flight carried out by Russian
inspectors over the territories of signatories to the Treaty on Open Skies
in 2011.
During the same period Finnish inspectors will carry out an
observation flight onboard Sweden's Saab 340 two-engine turboprop aircraft
over Russia.
"The plane and installed equipment underwent necessary international
inspections, which engaged Russian specialists," the source said.
The flight will take place along the route coordinated with Russian
experts.
