IS adviser: the slate welcomes Barzani’s new initiative, not forget Erbil agreement

Baghdad (NINA) - Hani Ashour, the Iraqiya Slate advisor, said Massoud Barzani’s new initiative will receive wide support because the current crisis is escalating, and must be defused.

He told NINA on Sunday "Barzani is proposing new solutions to the implementation of the Erbil agreement. He discussed this with Dr. Iyad Allawi, a short time ago, stressing "the IS is the first party that demanded the implementation of the Erbil agreement and prevented bypassing it because it is a means to guard the political process at the present time."

Ashour stressed "any new initiative must not ignore the Erbil agreement because it is the basis on which the political blocs agreed on the form of the current government and tracks of the political process in this period, noting that "there must be an agreement between the blocks on the solutions to be provided. It is natural that those who reject the agreement would isolate themselves and to bear the results."

As for Maliki's accusation to IS on increasing its demands within the Erbil agreement, Ashour said "IS also accuses Maliki that he did not, basically, implement what was agreed upon, so, how would the IS increase its requests while the original agreement has not been implemented so far." /End/
