Maliki makes surprise visit to Baghdad Medical City

Baghdad (NINA) - Prime Minister, Nouri Al Maliki, got acquainted, during a surprise visit before noon today to the Medical City in Baghdad, at the level of health care, medicines, available supplies, and the reality of the services provided to patients and visitors.

According to a statement from Maliki's office "the Prime Minister toured the external advisory clinics and patients’ wards. He listened to the patients’ needs and problems related to medical care, treatment, medicines, services and the use of elevators."

the statement added "Maliki directed, during a meeting with managers, doctors, consultants and paramedics working in the Medical City, the need to observe the performance of the humanitarian and national duty, exert utmost efforts to look after the patients, ensure their comfort and provision of medicines, and work to improve services and repair of the broken equipment," stressing the importance of giving special care to patients with chronic and incurable diseases.

Maliki called on officials and medical staff to "submit their plans and proposals, and specify their needs of equipment and medical supplies and medicines through the Ministry of Health, and through it to the cabinet to work on meeting these needs,” referring to the need to meet soon with officials at the Medical City to discuss the necessary requirements.
