Democrat and Pheu Thai parties announce their readiness for the election

BANGKOK, May 15 (TNA) - The Democrat Party and its archrival Pheu Thai Party have announced their readiness for the general election on July 3.

Democrat Party Spokesman Buranat Smutharaks said that his party was ready for the election, especially with the campaign for the return to the prime minister’s seat of its leader Abhisit Vejjajiva.

Buranat said that Mr Abhisit was also ready for a political debate with Miss Yingluck, a younger sister of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and the potential prime minister candidate of the Pheu Thai Party.

Buranat commented that the policies of the Pheu Thai Party were apparently aimed at clearing the wrongdoing of Thaksin who is now a fugitive and that if the Pheu Thai Party formed the next government, it would be busy with a process to help Thaksin. The process that will need parliamentary approval will take as long as five months. It will affect solutions to national problems and may lead to national conflicts because there will be groups of people who will oppose the attempt.

Meanwhile, the Pheu Thai Party unveiled three more party list candidates namely Prapat Chongsanguan, former governor of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority, Banthoon Supakwanich, former director of the Budget Bureau, and well-known columnist Nitiphum Nawarat.

Pheu Thai leader Yongyuth Wichaidit said the three would strengthen the party as they had experiences in running large organizations and their capabilities were recognized.

The Pheu Thai Party will convene all its constituency and list candidates tomorrow to decide who will be the party’s number one list candidate and also the candidate for the prime minister post. (TNA)
