Iranian youth wins silver in weightlifting
Iranian weightlifter Milad Orangi on Saturday clinched silver medal in the 2nd Youth World Championship Peru 2011.
In the 77kg category class, Orangi lifted 136 kilograms in snatch and hoisted 155 kilograms in clean and jerk. He won the silver with a total of 291 kilograms.
“My family and my coaches helped me to win the medal. I am motivated to get better results in the coming events,” Orangi said.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Wiktor Giec won the gold medal lifting 138 kilograms in snatch and 173 kilograms in clean and jerk. He claimed the title with a total of 311 kilograms.
Patryk Slowikowski from Poland finished at third place in the competitions. He lifted 122 kilograms in snatch, 146 kilograms in clean and jerk and 267 kilograms in total.
Some 370 lifters under 17-year-old from 36 countries are taking part in the Youth World Championship Peru 2011. The first edition was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, with participation of 300 lifters.
The tournament has been jointly organized by the International Weightlifting Federation and Peru federation.
