Asylum seeker boat intercepted

AAP-May,14-A boatload of 32 suspected asylum seekers intercepted in Australian waters will be taken to Christmas Island before being sent to another country.
HMAS Ararat, operating under the control of Border Protection Commend, intercepted the boat north of Scott Reef, north of Broome, on Saturday after it was detected by a RAAF surveillance aircraft.
The group will be transferred to Christmas Island pending removal to another country, Home Affairs Minister Brendan O'Connor said in a statement.
Prime Minister Julia Gillard last week announced the government was close to signing off on an agreement under which 800 asylum seekers picked up trying to reach Australia by boat will be transferred to Malaysia for processing.
In return, Australia would take from Malaysia 4000 people already assessed as being refugees over four years.
