Forthcoming election in Thailand sees sound studios soar

UBON RATCHATHANI, May 14 (TNA) - Electoral campaigns for Thailand's new general election, set on July 3, are shifting to pre-recorded voice-overs, as placards are now seen by many candidates as more costly and outdated.

This tendency has spread to Thailand’s northeastern Ubon Ratchathani Province, where three major political parties have opted to introduce their candidates by using voice campaigns for just some 1,500-2,000 baht a record, varying by duration, instead of relying sole on bulky placards.

Alai Sitichai, a radio programme manager in Ubon Ratchathani who also runs voice-over services, acknowledged that he had personally received more voice-over jobs lately from local candidates running for the forthcoming national poll; while sales of placards in the province have, on the other hand, dropped.

Alai revealed that younger candidates are, particularly, not inclined to walk into the pitfall of bulky spending on what they now deem outdated. (TNA)
