Persian novella “Pig’s Bone” to appear in Italian
TEHRAN, May 14 (MNA) -- An Italian version of the Iranian novella “Pig’s Bone and Leper’s Hands” by Mostafa Mastur will appear at Italy’s Turin International Book Fair on Saturday.
Translated into Italian by Bianca Maria Filippini, the book will be unveiled during a ceremony at the venue of Ponte 33 Publications, which released the book.
Entitled “Reading Iran in Italy”, the ceremony is organized by the Ponte 33 and will be attended by several Iranian and Italian literati and representatives of renowned Italian media.
Established by Irene Chiellini, Felicetta Ferraro and Bianca Maria Filippini, Ponte 33 is the Italian translation of the name of the renowned bridge in Isfahan, “Si-o-Se-Pol”, and the firm aims to introduce Iranian literature to Italians.
In this book, Mastur narrates the lives of different residents of a tower in Tehran. Their problems and everyday lives are cleverly tied to each other throughout the story.
The event will be attended by several scholars including journalist Antonio Sacchetti, translator and professor of Persian literature Bianca Maria Filippini and author Vanna Vannuccini.
“Pig’s Bone and Leper’s Hands” was previously translated by Ertugrul Ertekin into Turkish and Maryam Heidari translated it into Arabic.
The Italian version of “Pig’s Bone and Leper’s Hands” will be offered at the Turin International Book Fair which will run until May 16.
