Iran’s Sinaii honored with Gloria Artis medal

TEHRAN, May 14 (MNA) -- Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage granted its Gloria Artis medal to Iran’s leading filmmaker Khosrow Sinaii.

The Gloria Artis is the most important medal awarded by the Polish Culture Ministry, and is awarded to both individuals and institutions.

“I was invited to the Polish Embassy in Tehran to receive the medal,” Sinaii said on Friday. The medal was handed to the filmmaker on Poland’s National Day on May 3.

“This medal proved that although cultural efforts might sometimes be ignored for a while, they will eventually be noticed somewhere. It was quite interesting for me to receive the medal and I am preparing a letter of appreciation in response,” he stated.

Sinaii also received the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland for his documentary “The Lost Requiem” in 2008.

“The Lost Requiem” tells the story of the wartime exodus to Iran of thousands of Polish citizens after being released from the Soviet labor camps of Siberia during World War II.

Sinaii is internationally famous for over a hundred short films, documentaries and features. “In the Alleys of Love”, “Talking with a Shadow” and “Bride of Fire” are among his noteworthy credits.
