“Sanoh” joins Pheu Thai Party

BANGKOK, May 13 (TNA) - Pracharaj Party leader “Sanoh Thienthong” has joined the Pheu Thai Party, insisting his support for Yingluck Shinawatra, a younger sister of ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra, as the first ever female prime minister candidate in Thailand.

Mr Sanoh welcomed key Pheu Thai figures, including Pheu Thai leader Yongyut Wichaidit and over 20 other Pheu Thai members, at his residence on Friday, at which they invited him along with Mr Sorawong, Mr Thanis and Mrs Treenuch Thienthong, former Pracharaj MPs for Sa Kaeo, to join the Pheu Thai Party.

Mr Sanoh said that they shared the same values, to protect the nation, religion, and monarch, and to restore national unity and security, promote professionalism among soldiers, and solve the economic difficulties of the people, as well as dealing with water supply problems and farmers’ land problems.

Mr Sanoh said he did not demand a key position in the Pheu Thai Party and that he will know what his position in the party and his place in the candidate list will be after a meeting on May 16.

Mr Sanoh said that he agreed to join the Pheu Thai Party after receiving a call from Thaksin on April 1.

Asked if he still supports Mingkwan Saengsuwan as a prime minister candidate, Mr Sanoh said it was a future matter and would depend on resolutions passed by the party on May 16.

Asked whether Miss Yingluck would be able to become prime minister as she is on the top of the party’s candidate list, Mr Sanoh said he viewed the matter as a rumour for the time being and that he would have no problem if she is put forward for the position by the party. He said men and women had equal rights when it comes to the prime minister’s seat. Mr Sanoh said if the Pheu Thai Party resolves to nominate Miss Yingluck as a prime minister candidate, he would have no problems. (TNA)
